Melissa Rae Barrie is countries greatest new discovery, she's from Coquitlam, B.C. - that's Canada for you folk south of the border. Hockey's loss is music's gain. She was going to become a professional hockey player, but Melissa had four concussions by the age of 15 and at the age of 18 she broke her leg. In her first year of college hockey, in pre-season, she slipped a disc in her hip. That kinda put an end to the hockey dream. So country music is the winner.
