Tinian's Boy

Since Tinian’s Boy’s first ever gig was featured on renowned tastemaker British blog NME.com in late 2009, the band has spent the past year playing across Australia and beating the hearts of audiences as they go. Their charismatic and wild stage show has been known to result in blood-covered guitars and shattered tambourines.
The band’s explosive sound is for fans of thoughtful and powerful indie-rock with the boys channelling depth similar to that of The National and Silversun Pickups, with a gritty and honest Nashville-style of songwriting.
Tinian’s Boy started out in 2009, with Adam Stonehouse on vocals and rhythm guitar, Jeremy Bellis on lead guitar and Ben Keating on bass. As they wrote and developed more complicated musical ideas, they so adapted by adding Shannon L Ridley on guitar and Owen Tilbury on drums.
2010 saw the new five-piece set across southeast Qld, impressing audiences and building up a following with their wild stage show and enigmatic, haunting brand of rock and roll. Tinian’s Boy followed a steady run of shows by releasing the double A-side release “The Sea Orchids/Burning Castles” in July 2010, with both tracks taken from their upcoming EP "The Animal".
2011 will be an exciting year for the boys, with their debut EP ‘The Animal’ to be released with alongside the film clip for ‘The Sea Orchids’ in January, followed up by an interstate tour in April 2011.

So I had to track down Tinian's Boy. And glad I did I am.
Check out this video, and if your blood doesn't swell when that guitar comes in, check your pulse again.

Speaking of The Zoo:

Brisbane indie-rock five-piece Tinian’s Boy are to take their wild stage show, often resulting in blood covered guitars and smashed tambourines, to the The Zoo in Brisbane on Saturday January 15th 2011. This show is in support of the launch of their debut EP ‘The Animal’ and the release of the film clip for the soulful lead single ‘The Sea Orchids’.

‘The Animal’ EP is a haunting collection of honest tales and intricate rock musicianship. Recorded in Brisbane at 180 Studios with producer Matt Whitehouse, the EP captures their immersive sound and live energy. It is for fans of thoughtful indie-rock; channelling depth similar to that of The National and Silversun Pickups. The Sea Orchids film clip was also recorded locally, and amazingly directed by lead singer Adam Stonehouse with help from filmmaker Peter Johnston.

Adding to the launch night will be Brisbane indie poppers, Montpelier and Desert Ghost. Tickets for the show are available through Oztix for $10 +bf.

I've got my invite, but the air fare is a bit steep so I'll pass this time. But I'm sure a great time will be had by all, and I'll be scouring You Tube looking for video.
