Selah Sue, real name Sanne Putseys, was born in Leuven, Belgium on the 3rd of May, 1989. Selah started playing classic guitar when she was 15. At 17, she participated in an open mic night in Het Depot, a small venue in Leuven. Milow, real name Jonathan Vandenbroeck - a successful Belgian singer and organiser of the event, saw her performance and asked her to be his support act. Sanne accepted, wrote more songs and is steadily gaining the respect she deserves.
Selah Sue sounds a little bit like Duffy singing to a reggae beat, and that is not a complaint.
It always amazes me how little of their original accent singers have when singing in English.
But seriously, I say give her a listen. This is one cool talented young lady.
