In case the photo's at the top didn't give you a clue for me this is the ultimate version. Many have sung it but none come close to the sheer beauty that is the Melanie version. Her album "Laydown (Candles in the Rain)" which came out is 1970 was never off my turntable for a hell of a long time.
We all know that Mick and Keith wrote the lyrics, and Brian came up with most of the melody. But after Melanie recorded this, she owned it.
