Ring of Fire

"Ring of Fire" is a country music song popularized by Johnny Cash and co-written by June Carter (wife of Johnny Cash) and Merle Kilgore. The single appears on Cash's 1963 compilation album, Ring of Fire: The Best of Johnny Cash.
The song was recorded on March 25, 1963 and became the biggest hit of his career, staying at number one on the charts for seven weeks.

This has always been onb of my favorite songs. My mother told me I was born in a ring of fire, since the hospital where I was born was in Highbury, London and it was one of those nights in the height of the blitz. The Nazi's had been bombing London again and the hospital was un-touched, but most of the buildings surrounding it were destroyed.

I doubt that's why I like this song, but the instilled memory is there.

Ray Charles

From his second appearance on the Johnny Cash Show this is Ray Charles giving Johnny's No. 1 hit "Ring of Fire" a soul treatment. It was released on his then current country album "Love Country Style". Taped on Ray's 40th birthday this was aired on Sep. 23rd, 1970.
