I cannae think of a city I have ever visited that is further away from Las Vegas than Glasgow.
And I'm not just talking actual distance.
So I was intrigued about this band name Glasvegas, which when you listen to them obviously came from Glasgow.
I wonder whatever induced them to combine Glasgow and Las Vegas? But the sound is good.
This is not your grannies Scottish singers, no Andy Stewart or Jimmy Logan here.
Thye have to be one of the few modern bands that sing with an accent. The Beatles never never sang Scouse, Joe Cocker never sang Geordie, and Van Morrison rarely sang Irish. True there were some cockney singers, but that was back in the day. In my humble opinion singers generally manage to sound mid-atlantic, that is somewhere between a British and an American accent.
Anyway, enough of this BS. Just give a listen to Glasvegas, performing Daddys Gone on The Jools Holland show last year.
Then check out their first TV appearance singinging "It's My Own Cheating Heart That Makes Me Cry" Live at Rockworld TV's Death Disco.
Then back to Jools Holland again for a performance of Geraldine.
Ye cannae whack it!
