The Right Guy

Yes, we now have the right stuff for President and VP. As I predicted back on June 6th it is Joe Biden for VP.
I really like the choice, I have a lot of respect for Joe Biden. In my humble opinion he is too intelligent to be a politician, so it will be a good pairing.
The good news is that John McCain does not have any brothers who are state governors which will help us in having a fair and above board election. So hopefully without having hanging chads and Supreme Court intervention come January we will finally end the fiasco of the Bush years. America will once again gain respect in the world.
Too many of my friends around the world have told me of their countries disdain for the USA during the past eight years.
Plus of course life will be better for us again, if we can climb out from the mountain of debt dear Dubyah buried us under.
So I urge all Americans to get out and convince the naysayers of their folly and most important, come November, VOTE.
One last thought, wouldn't it be something if McCain could stop the mud slinging and attempt to show reasons why he should be elected (if there are any). And please Barack do not stoop to his level.
It will be refreshing to have some-one we can vote for, rather than just voting against the other candidate.
Welcome Joe, now let's get out and get it done.

How many of you?

This is an interesting site.
Of the almost 305 Million inhabitants of the United States only 1,525 have the same first name as me, and only 951,392 have the same last name (wow, that's almost a million).
But as this widget shows there are only 5 people sharing my name in the USA. of course if your name is John Smith you can expect different results.

Piano Summit Boogie

Here we have a live version of a mixed Boogie with Ray Charles, Jerry Lee Lewis and Fats Domino. Now this truly was a piano summit meeting.
Also look out for Ronnie Wood and Carl Perkins playing back up.
I guess it was from a tribute to Fats Domino done in 1986 in New Orleans.
You can find it and many more on DVD.
How does one get to be in the right place to witness a concert like that?

Amy Winehouse - Just Friends

Here is the new video for Amy's latest single, let us hope we are heading for happier times for the gal with the great voice.

The Real John McCain

Well it's back from vacation for me. I was in Michigan, Bush country. Sadly all that was on the TV apart from the daily travails of Kwame were attack ads. From both sides but predominantly from McCain. Sad!
The REAL John McCain is a multi-millionaire who owns ten luxurious homes. The REAL John McCain backs President Bush's tax cuts for big corporations. The REAL John McCain empathizes only with the interests of our nation's wealthy minority, not its money-strapped majority. But far too many are buying into McCain's deceit, so we created this video to educate the public about the REAL McCain.

According to Popbitch:
For anyone that didn’t know.
John McCain was at the bottom of his military class at Annapolis, but still got to pilot a fighter plan due to his father’s connections.
He is the son and the grandson of admirals.
He finished 894 of 899 in his graduating class.
Despite crashing five aircraft, John McCain was never disciplined.

And son-of-single-mother Obama is, of course, the privileged elitist.

The 25th Fremont Art and Wine Festival

The 25th Fremont Art and Wine Festival was yet another beautiful day. They always seem to get the good weather. I don't know what the crowd figures were but it seemed a bit smaller than previous years. Probably another reflection of the current economy. I know we spent less than normal, but then we are flying out tonight for vacation time. All we bought were the commemoration glasses and the beer and wine to fill them, a portion of Garlic Fries and one Polish hot dog. I also bought a mustard called Heaven 'n' Hell from Gourmet Temptations it has a great sweetish taste until the heat sinks in and then you feel the bite. Here we have a few video clips I took of nothing in particular just an attempt to give a taste of the sights and sounds of the Festival.

Blogger problems

I apologize for the lack of posting, seems that Blogger let loose a rogue bot, which decided that many, if not all of Bloggers blogs were spam blogs!! Checking the Blogger help desk (an oxymoron) there would appear to be 319,131 messages at 10.02 am Pacific Time, which indicates some irate bloggers. Sadly Blogger themselves are really no help. They are ignoring all of the uproar. Probably gone for the weekend.
Well let us hope this is resolved soon or else Wordpress could be getting a huge influx. See what other problems there have been in the past. Note the complete absence of information on the Blogger Status.

This probably won't get posted.

August 2, 2008. OK I posted the above in anger yesterday, it never got posted because of the errant spam bot that hit Blogger. Today we are able to post again, but no apology, no reason why, no assertions that it will not happen again. I did end up exporting the blog to Wordpress with mixed results, most of it came across but it seems some of the links were omitted. I have to admit I do prefer the ease of use of Blogger compared to Wordpress. And Wordpress is a little less flexible. So I will probably keep Bearly Rambling II as a separate blog with different content. None of this will happen in the short term since I am about to take a vacation so posting, if any will be spotty for a while.

Cats TV Dinner

Simon's cat is back and looking to be fed. This explains why it is a good thing to feed your cat when he so desires, and a bad thing to not feed him.
