Google Maps Street View

Google tells you all about their new Google Maps Street views. Pretty cool, don't know how much use it would be in Fort Wayne or Hicksville. Although it works very nicely for San Francisco bay area, even in Fremont. All the blue streets have a view.

Best Father Daughter wedding dance

The tradition of the Father Daughter dance on her wedding day is usually a very gentile event. It is also known as the Honor Dance.
This one breaks out into a "White Wedding event".

Elizabeth 1 - Nancy 0

Good on ya control room. It's about time someone slapped her. I hope Elizabeth has a good resume, caused Nancy is gonna be pissed.

Tim Conway's Elephant Story

If you can keep as straight a face as Carol Burnett (at the beginning) then you should be on TV. This has to be one of the funniest clips around from the "Carol Burnett Show". Snorkle! EarlSinclair has some other good comedy moments on YouTube.

Hot Violin Skills

Hip Hop violin, who'd a thunk it? Didn't catch her name, but she's a mean fiddler.

Take Five - Dave Brubeck

Take Five from The Dave Brubeck Quartet recorded in 1961 in The Netherlands. Slightly different version (as all Jazz should be when played live). Thanks to Bob Erwig for the upload.

Jump forward 43 years and hear how they sound now, a little mellower, but then I guess we are supposed to mellow with age. This is in two parts. Thanks to jazzmannl for this.

Kevin Spacey impressionist

Kevin Spacey does some very cool impressions on Inside the Actors Studio.

And then there is this guy who does 500 impressions in 2 minutes.

TISWAS

TISWAS was a live kid's program that ran back in the 70's on a Saturday morning. I was not a kid at the time, neither did I have a kid in the house at the time. But this was must see TV before someone else invented the phrase. Did I say it was a live program for kid's. It was hilarious. There were many segments to it, here's a sampling. What is missing is the clips of them talking to and interacting with the kids which were some of the funniest things ever.

Opening Titles

Pie and Water

Summer of love, 40 years on

It was 1967, the summer of love. Everyone in San Francisco had flowers in their hair. And I was living in Maidstone, England. But you could enjoy the music all around the world, and everybody was cool.

Keith Olbermann, you said it all.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

And boy what a talented bunch of beholders we have here, from Leonardo Da Vinci to Pablo Picasso via El Greco, Rubens and many many more. A very well done piece her by eggman913.

Slow Wave

Check out this site called Slow Wave, they have a "collective dream diary" written by various people and then drawn as a comic strip by Jesse Reklaw. I thought this one was very pertinent.

Sicko - Michael Moore

Here's the trailer for Michael Moore's new movie Sicko. I'll hold judgment until I've seen it, but if he is holding up the British NH as a good thing I don't think I am going to agree with him. Fahrenheit 911 was still a great movie. It looks like he has some more primo Bushisms in this movie.

Shake it up baby, yeah

This amazing 6 year old was on the Ellen show the other day. Having attempted the guitar at various times in my life I am doubly impressed. You have to watch to the end to see his face when Ellen gives him a spectacular gift. But also take note of his blues phrasing on his second selection. I don't think you can get the blues at six, but he sure can play them.

Neti Pot drought

Dr Oz was on Oprah extolling the wonders of the Neti Pot to clear out your sinuses, and lo and behold you cannot buy one anywhere. My wife is wanting to try it, but everywhere locally is sold out. So of course I offered to get her one from the Internet. Ha Ha, same message everywhere "not currently in stock". Once again bask in the wonders of Oprah.

Neti Pot

Posted Jan 06, 2006

"Popularized" by a mention on Six Feet Under, the Neti Pot can be used to wash out your nostrils (and make your friends think that you're a New Age freak).

Baba O'Riley

I was listening to Baba O'Riley earlier and started to wonder how many different versions were there around. I wondered who would be foolish enough to attack a classic, we see it frequently on "talent" shows (usually a bad move) and the only other two who have done a passable version for me were Pearl Jam and Blue Man Group.
So I went to You Tube and searched for "Baba O'Riley" and came up with 546 videos. Now these are not neccessarily all different, in fact I easily spotted some doubles, but then there are lots of ways to misspell Baba OReilly for instance came up with 60. So who knows what other ways it could be spelled. And now I am wondering which song has the most videos on You Tube? Does anybody know?

The Who

Blue Man Group

Pearl Jam

Funniest Candid Camera stunt

I think this is the greatest Candid Camera stunt ever, look at their faces at the end, priceless. Can you imagine if it happened to you? What would your reaction be?

Hey Buffalo Bull!

Amazing video from South Africa's Kruger National Park of a pride of Lions, a couple of Crocodiles and a herd of Buffalo. You'll be surprised at the outcome.

Anarchy at Fox

Are the Fox employees finally rebelling against Rupert? Or is Fox trying in a subtle way to show us they get the truth, even though they never show it on the news?
You be the judge. This from two recent Fox shows. [With an assist by bsregistration]

Bohemian Rhapsody

Bohemian Rhapsody one of the best known rock songs of all time. Many attempt to cover it, many parody it, but there is only one group who can perform it to it's ultimate style. That of course is Queen, and they have to have Freddy up front.
But just for fun here are some other versions, in addition to a wonderful live one from Queen.

Queen - Live at Wembley Stadium in 1986

Lee Evans - sound by Queen

Rick Miller - and 25 most annoying voices

Mnozil Brass

Edgar Cruz - classical guitar

We interupt this blog for a special bulletin

Troop Surge! A New Way Forward by George Warmonger Bush.

This reminds me of an e-mail I got earlier this week.

Bill Clinton, Al Gore and George W. Bush went to a fitness spa for some fun.
After a stimulating, healthy lunch, all three decided to visit the men's room where they found a strange-looking gent sitting at the entrance.
He said: "Welcome to the gentlemen's room. Be sure to check out our newest feature, a mirror that, when you look into it and say something truthful, will reward you with your wish."
"But be warned, if you say something false, you will be sucked into the mirror to live in a void of nothingness for all eternity!"
The three men quickly entered and upon finding the mirror, Bill Clinton stepped up and said, "I think I'm the most intelligent of us all," and he suddenly found the keys to a brand new Bentley in his hands.
Al Gore stepped up and said, "I think I'm the most ambitious of us all," and in an instant, he was surrounded by a pile of money to fund his next Presidential Campaign.
Excited over the possibility of finally having a wish come true, George W. Bush looked into the mirror and said, "I think...," and was instantly sucked into the mirror.

Who knew they could even bake Brownies? Police officer bakes brownies with marijuana confiscated from druggies. Hilarity ensues.

Christopher Hitchens at his best

This is the only time JF will get a mention on my blog. I will not encourage that kind of thing. Christopher really has his finger on the pulse of these charlatans.

Big Al Carson

The next time you are in New Orleans you have to go to the Funky Pirate. It's most of the way down Bourbon Street on the left. And there you will find Big Al singing and playing his heart out. This is one of his novelty numbers, but they play some awesome blues songs as well as party favorites to keep the night going.

Then at the end of the night you can
"Take your drunken ass home"

The Goons

Probably the most boring video on YouTube, but the best song. The Ying Tong song by the Goons. The funniest show ever on BBC radio. The Goons were of course, Spike Milligan, Peter Sellers, and Harry Secombe to name a few. Listen and enjoy.

Harry Secombe on "This Is Your Life" (BBC 1958), with an assist by other Goon Show members.

The Last Goon Show ever (1972) a special reunion in two parts.

On a personal note I used to listen to The Goon Show every week as a kid, I think at the time I could do every voice (that was just my opinion, not shared by anyone else). Shutup Eccles. At school The Ying Tong song was performed by a group of sixth formers in a very funny miming section for the end of year show. If you search around many of the radio shows are available on MP3 formats, as well as CD's from the good old Auntie Beeb.

Who says ventriloquism is dead?

Ventriloquism is an art form that is frequently destroyed by amateurs, and unfunny acts. Nina Conti and Monkey do not fall under those categories. They are very, very funny. Check out this performance from The Royal Albert Hall in London for the charity event 'Tickled Pink'.

Memory Lane, the 70's

Smartly directed short history of the 70's with a British view. With a soundtrack by David Bowie. Oh yes, I remember it well.

Beer, the glorious nectar

One of my favorite local beers is of course Anchor, but this one looks as if it could be good. I'm feeling thirsty so I guess it's time for a beer.
More beer stuff below.
Scientists in Australia have teamed with Fosters to create the first Beer Battery. I dunno about that, after a few beers I keep going, and going, and going.
Then there is a special way to open a beer in Scandinavia, where beer is everything. They do it by rubbing two beer bottles together. It must be good to be a Swedish boy scout.
If you are serious about beer check out Realbeer.com, there is no Watneys or Bud featured here.
And I'm sure everyone on the net has seen the beer delivery system, but did you catch the guy when he was on Letterman?

Blake Lewis - You Give Love A Bad Name

Blake Lewis is certainly the most original artist in American Idol history, in my opinion. I think he is the first to beatbox on the show, but on this song he really pulled it out. And actually improved the song.
